Taxi Drivers still say 'NO'

I'm the sort of guy who hates rules. No, I'm not an anarchist. Let me explain. I like rules, but not when they are not enforced or obeyed. For example, if there is a rule saying that smoking is illegal in a public park, I like that rule. But if people smoke regardless, I would much rather if the rule hadn't been established in the first place. That way, I wouldn't have to witness people breaking the rule. I would just happily go about my business, accepting that people are allowed to smoke, and it wouldn't bother me at all.....

Not "ONLY" in Thailand

Road accidents happen all the time in Thailand. And while it is very true to say that travelling on the roads here is dangerous, it is sometimes easy to forget that crazy "accidents" can happen anywhere that cars and bikes can be found. Here are a few examples from places outside Thailand, just to remind us that it isn't "only in Thailand".

New Cars For 2013 : Toyota Vios

There are literally a handful of mainstream manufacturers in Thailand. Some of the blame for this situation lies with the high levels of tax that forms a barrier to entry for new brands unwilling to invest heavily in manufacturing bases here in Thailand. But, while tax has something to do with it, I believe it is also true to say that the average Thai car owner is very conservative.

Cost of First Car Policy

To some, the new car scheme might seem like a great thing. To others, the scheme might have provided too sweet a deal to pass up. At the end of the day.... there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Rage Against 'Rich Law Breaker'

Another rich and well connected Thai man has gotten himself involved in a road traffic 'accident'. And, naturally he has then attempted to use his status to avoid having to man up.

Chevrolet Trailblazer Thai Debut Tomorrow - Detailed Preview

Chevrolet is to unveil the all-new Chevrolet TrailBlazer in Thailand tomorrow, March 21st. The launch will be broadcast online and the launch event pre-empts the Bangkok International Motor Show which kicks off next week.

Although the image above would make it seem like there is still some mystery about the look of the new SUV, much of the mystery is already spoiled by previous unveils of pre-production version of the new Trailblazer, and what we already know of the new Colorado on which the Trailblazer is based, and which is already on sale.

All New Hyundai Elantra - They must be joking!

Hyundai has finally found time to bring the Elantra to Thailand to compete in the all-important C segment. And this should be a good thing. But is the Elantra a compelling option in the C segment? And is Hyundai really serious about the Thai market?

Cruze Estate Launch Previews Booted Facelift

The Chevrolet Cruze is purring along quite nicely in Thailand, but while other markets have a hatchback option, we are still limited to a "standard-for-Thailand" sedan version. Mazda and Ford are alone in offering hatchbacks in this segment, and it seems unlikely that Chevrolet with join that particular war, but there is another Cruze that might make it to Thailand: The Chevrolet Cruze Estate.

Is my house flooded?

I stumbled upon this extremely useful website today. It is completely self evident what is going on when you look at the site, although it is in Thai.

But in case there is any doubt, you look for the postal code of the area you are interested in, and you will see a percentage of flooding. The other figure is the number of new updates the site has received within that area.

So, if you are out of town and wondering if your area is flooded yet, or you are planing to travel within Bangkok, this might help.
