2012 Chevrolet Colorado to Debut at Bangkok Motor Show
Submitted by peter on 9 March, 2011 - 16:17.With the 2011 Bangkok International Motor Show just weeks away, Chevrolet has released a teaser image of its forthcoming Colorado pickup truck. The truck will be previewed at the Bangkok show, but in preproduction form.
The decision by GM to use the 32nd Bangkok International Motor Show to take the wraps off the new design is hardly surprising. One tonne pickup trucks are very popular in Thailand, and in 2010 over 40% of all vehicles sold in the kingdom were in this category.
Honda Show Small Car Concept at 2010 Bangkok International Motor Show
Submitted by peter on 29 March, 2010 - 22:07.Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Thailand’s second largest manufacturer and exporter of passenger cars, today exhibited its Honda New Small Concept, a compact-sized concept model and the U3-X, a new personal mobility device at the 31st Bangkok International Motor Show. Both mobility products, exhibited for the first time in Thailand, are expected to be the main attractions at Honda’s booth this year.
31st Bangkok International Motor Show and Still Messed Up
Submitted by peter on 29 March, 2010 - 19:47.This just isn't even funny any more. On the 31st attempt at hosting an International Motor Show, it is hard to fathom how the event organisers could still get the event slogan so badly wrong. This year, the opening ceremony photo looks even funnier given that there is a British representative present and in massive print in front of the special people is the "sentence": "DRIVING SAVE THE EARTH".
Nissan Micra at Geneva Shows March Eco Car
Submitted by peter on 4 March, 2010 - 07:13.Nissan has taken the covers off the all-new Nissan Micra at the Geneva motor show, and now that we can see what it looks like, I can't imagine there being a lot less interest in it. The only possible way this car could be a success is if it's insanely cheap.
Honda New Small Concept
Submitted by peter on 6 January, 2010 - 18:11.![]() |
Honda has just unveiled a new small car concept at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi. You'll never guess what they've called it, so I'll tell you: "New Small."
I really hope nobody got paid to come up with that name. But, while the name might indeed be about as imaginative as the title of this article, the car itself is much less dull. In fact, I'd say it bodes well for the chances of the Eco Car's success in Thailand when it is launched next year (2011 people).
Toyota Etios in India
Submitted by peter on 4 January, 2010 - 21:36.Toyota are due to dispaly a new small car in India. The Toyota Etios (apparently meaning "the origin of") at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo which begins later this week. Usually cars released on the Indian market don't give much insight into the Thai market, but this could be different.
Thailand International Motor Expo 2009 Apparent Success
Submitted by peter on 15 December, 2009 - 04:47.![]() |
The Thailand International Motor Expo 2009 came to a close on Sunday, and the final sales results are in. A grand total of 25,220 new car bookings were made at the Expo, which is 10,000 more than event organisers had forecast. This could be taken as some indication that the economic situation is improving. Or it could just mean that impulse buying is rampant.
Regardless, it is interesting to see the shakedown of the final sales results. We reported earlier on the first day's results, and now we can share the final results complete with some comments on what it means for the industry in Thailand, if anything.
Thailand International Motor Expo 2009 Sales Results: Day 1
Submitted by peter on 4 December, 2009 - 05:16.The 2009 Thailand International Motor Expo is underway, and sales results from the first day have been tallied. Overall the results aren't exactly fantastic with a mere 931 cars sold, but it's early days with the show running until 13th December.
Read on for the highlights from the first day of sales, complete with a few images.
Thai International Motor Expo 2009 - If you really must go
Submitted by peter on 17 November, 2009 - 18:36.The Thailand International Motor Expo is set for another mindless run. From 2nd to 13th December prospective car buyers can go to the Impact Arena, Muang Tong Thani to check out the same cars that they can see at their local dealers. As usual the show has a theme, and this year it is: "Driving... for Sustainability."
2009 Bangkok International Motor Show - Chery
Submitted by peter on 1 April, 2009 - 23:55.What motor show would be a motor show without a few funny cars? And the 2009 Bangkok International Motor Show had a few very funny cars. Chinese automaker Chery with the Faira gets my vote for the silliest car of the show.
2009 Bangkok International Motor Show - Volkswagen
Submitted by peter on 1 April, 2009 - 15:16.VW is taking a more serious stab at the Thai market, and chose to show a number of interesting models at this year's Bangkok International Motor Show. But are they actually going to have a hope of selling these cars in Thailand at these prices?
2009 Bangkok International Motor Show - Honda
Submitted by peter on 31 March, 2009 - 22:31.Earlier I gave a brief look at some of the "highlights" from Toyota's floorspace at the 2009 Bangkok International Motor Show. Right across the aisle from Toyota is Honda who seemed more interested in some "Honda Pretty" competition thing, than they did their cars. Anyway that's the way of things at the Bangkok Motor Show, and to be fair Honda needed something to take the attention off the lack of new metal.
2009 Bangkok International Motor Show - Toyota
Submitted by peter on 31 March, 2009 - 20:34.Visitors to the 2009 Bangkok International Motor Show will find that Toyota has a "new" Yaris, a Prius II "Prototype" and a 1/X Concept. Exciting!
2008 Bangkok International Motor Show : Sales figures
Submitted by peter on 17 April, 2008 - 14:44.The 2008 Bangkok International Motor Show was a big success, and with sales of over 18,000 units, things are looking good for the industry in 2008.
Some of the sales figures are very interesting, and while Toyota, Honda and Isuzu continue to top the charts as usual, there are some interesting surprises.
